Ceramic Auto Glass Tinting- Never Fades Or Discolor
by Eddie Borgwardt
If you look closely at a new car you will find a black ceramic coating along the edge of the rear window. This coating will either be straight edged or with a dotted edge. The width of the dotted edge is usually just 1/4 inch. A window film treatment won't fit snugly to the glass with these dots in the way and that leaves an air pocket around the perimeter of the glass.
You won't notice this on most cars, but some cars have an even larger band of dots along the top of the back window.
Most newer cars have a black ceramic trimming the edge of the rear window. Sometimes this ceramic has a straight edge and sometimes it has a dotted edge. Usually this dotted edge is only 1/4 inch wide or so, on Fords its a bit wider.
The window film usually wont stick to these dots flush, so there will be a pocket of air trimming the glass. On most cars this isn't very noticeable. The problem is that some cars have a six inch wide band of dots on the upper edge of the back window.
Glue sticks or liquid glue pens is another option you may try to use to fill in the dots. However, it is said to be messy and very tricky, it will look very nice if you are able to do it correctly. Ceramic auto glass tinting is not a dyed or a metal film.It is actually made with state-of-the-art Titanium, which generates the durable, unique ceramic film blend which has no parallel in the industry.
